Initially when I met with Tamryn I was looking for some updated personal branding images, I no longer identified with the outdated pictures I saw of myself. The thought of getting in front of the camera terrified me, after 40, let’s face it, I couldn’t keep comparing myself with that with that 20-something year old self-image anymore. When I went on to read about the incredible journey’s these women had been on, I was inspired. Tamryn had not only portrayed them beautifully, but the way she captured their strength and authenticity really spoke to me. I recognized that this was the experienced I never knew I needed!
Do you have a story / experience you want to share?
This photoshoot became more than just a brief for a profile headshot, I wanted a visual manifestation of the personal development and growth I had experienced this last year. “I want to step into my power” I had told Tamryn at the consultation, when she asked me exactly what that looked like for me, I had to do some soul searching while planning for the shoot. Like a lot of working moms, I am constantly trying to find that perfect work/life balance, there is very rarely time left over in the day for me to recharge or fill my bucket. I value my interpersonal relationships and uplifting other people, I invest a lot of energy in my interactions. But this approach wasn’t refilling my proverbial “bucket”, it just meant I was going without.
Since turning 40 I have taken the time for the self-care and the personal investment I needed, in turn empowering me to be the best version of myself to better serve others in my life. This experience with Tamryn gave me the nudge I needed to invest the time, energy and resources I needed to “look” my best myself, aligning with the internal growth I was experiencing.
What are you post proud of yourself for?
I have a tendency to be very harsh and critical of myself, self-doubt plagues me from time to time and has been holding me back from reaching my full potential. Throughout this journey I took the time to do some self-reflection, acknowledge my achievements and how far I have come in this last year. This has given me the confidence and clarity to start planning all the exciting goals and aspirations I have for the decade to come.
What are some goals or things you still want to do?
Now that I have stepped into my power, I feel unencumbered and inspired to take the next step in my personal development and career growth. I love working with people and making magic happen in business where I can get everybody on the same page, there is in an energy and authenticity that is now been refined in my output which strengthens my value add. I might not have the next step planned out yet, which I was panicking at 41 I should know by know by now. But more importantly, I have taken the first step and have the “how” worked out.
What has gotten easier for you since turning 40?
Self-love, self-care and acknowledging my achievements.
