Madeleen updates her professional portraits every few years. She knows it’s a necessity, despite the fact that it’s not something she has previously particularly enjoyed.
She came in with a very practical and straight forward mindset:
“It needs to get done.”
But like with all my clients, she had a few concerns.
She didn’t believe she was photogenic.
She wasn’t sure it was possible to get images she would truly love, ones that still felt like the real her.
And most importantly, she didn’t want to look stiff, overly polished, or like she was “trying too hard.”
But she did want her personality to come through.
What she didn’t expect was how different this experience would feel for her and just how much more of a full experience this portrait session was.
My sessions really aren’t just about taking photos…
But the photo side is about being guided through:
- What to wear
- How to pose naturally
- How to relax into the process
So that the images we get look incredible, while still looking like you. The real you.
Like many people, she also had concerns about how she would look in photos, something I hear often – almost always.
You need to hear this: you don’t need to change anything about yourself before you come in for portraits.
Through posing, lighting, and direction, we create images that feel both flattering and real. Please don’t put unnecessary pressure on yourself to change who you are before you feel ready for an experience like this.
