Too young to be taken seriously? Not anymore.

When you’re just starting out in business, especially in an industry like real estate, how people see or perceive you really matters. And Kiara wants to leverage this! She knew she had the drive, the work ethic, and the ambition, but she needed portraits that would help other people see that too, instead of just seeing someone young. 

Fresh out of school and newly qualified as a real estate agent, Kiara was stepping into a space where most professionals are older and more established. And while she knows she has what it takes to succeed, her biggest concern was whether people would take her seriously and give her the chance to prove it. 

Another concern she came to me with was that she felt like she didn’t have a “professional enough” wardrobe yet. Instead of waiting until everything felt perfect, we made a different decision: to use exactly what she had to our advantage. Kiara was very determined not to try and come across as older or more experienced as she was. She wanted to show up authentically. And her wardrobe at the time lent to that. She is young. She is new to this. But that’s also her superpower – she’s got the energy, the drive and the hunger to go out there and get what she wants. 

She was nervous about a few things:

• Not knowing how to pose
• Feeling like she might look like she was “trying too hard”
• Being self-conscious about her smile

So we made sure we kept everything very relaxed and very authentic.

No hair and makeup, by her choice, because it was important to her that she still felt like herself (her very young self).

We worked with the wardrobe she already had and focused on:

• Clean, simple styling
• Confident posing
• A mix of strong and slightly more relaxed images to reflect her personality

And she really didn’t need to know what to do in front of the camera. I guided her through every little step of the way.

Most of the women I photograph feel like they’re not quite “ready” yet.

They don’t feel confident, they feel like they need to lose more weight first, or suddenly learn how to pose on their own.

It was incredible to have Kiara reach out, ready and eager to get portraits despite her hesitations. 

Because you really don’t need to be ready, confident, photogenic or any of those things you keep telling yourself, to come in and get incredible portraits. 

My role is to guide you through the entire process. From what to wear, to how to pose, to helping you feel comfortable in front of the camera, so that you walk away with images that feel natural, confident, and aligned with who you are.
