I very strongly believe that you should go and have an engagement shoot done before your wedding.

Here are my top 5 reasons why I think you should have an engagement shoot before your wedding:

• It will give you a chance to get to know your photographer

I think knowing your photographer, and more importantly, getting on with your photographer is vital. You spend most of your wedding day with your photographer so it is important that you get on.

• It will help you know what to expect

Do both you and your husband know exactly what to do in front of a camera? If yes, then you don’t need to worry. But, most people don’t have a clue. And they also don’t know if their photographer will help pose them. Some people think they want entirely natural shots, but after an engagement shoot with a bit of posing guidance they realise that they prefer to posed. Other people come to me super nervous because they want all the posing help, but think that they will look awkward in their photos then. These small worries and concerns are so unnecessary as doing an engagement shoot with your photographer before your wedding can resolve them all.

• Learn photo tricks specific to you

You can spend the whole next week learning photo and posing tricks to help you ‘learn how to pose in 10 easy steps’ but let me tell you a secret. Every persons body is different. Every person has different insecurities. And every person needs their own set of posing tricks. Your engagement session is where you can learn to get into the habit of using these tricks so that all your wedding pics (those that guests take too) are stunning shots.

• It will be super fun

This is one of the most common comments I get after a shoot. A very surprised “that was actually fun”. I totally get how intimidating a huge camera in your face can be. But, I can make it fun, and the whole experience SHOULD be fun and hold great memories for you and your partner.
